Sharyn Prindle
Principal Prindle has been a part of the Fairfax County Public Schools system since 2000. She served as a classroom teacher, special education teacher, LEAD Fairfax Intern, assistant principal, acting principal, and principal. Ms. Prindle has led at Wakefield Forest Elementary School since 2007 and has been the school principal since July 2016.
Ms. Prindle’s educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree from Nazareth College of Rochester in English Literature with a concentration in elementary and special education, a Master's Degree in Education Leadership and Administration from The George Washington University, and a Fairfax County Public Schools Advanced Academic Endorsement.
Principal Prindle was named Region 5 Principal of the Year in 2023. She was also recognized by the Advisory Committee for Students with Disabilities with a First Class Award for modeling excellence in supporting individuals with disabilities and her commitment to inclusive practices.
Since becoming principal, Wakefield Forest has started a STEAM lab, which all students attend weekly. In addition, students in grades 5 and 6 participate in electives classes (ex: musical theater, gardening, creative writing, Ultimate Frisbee, coding, etc.) on Friday afternoons, while grades K-4 engage in Innovation Hour, a hands-on, non-curriculum based learning time. Outside of school, Principal Prindle enjoys reading, kayaking, and adventuring with her daughters.
