PTA Buddy Program, Volunteer to Help New Families Feel Welcome
Would you like to be part of the Buddy Program? This year is more important than ever to make sure new families feel welcome. This summer we will match you up with a new student and their family to help answer any questions they may have before starting school.
Popsicles with the Principals
All of our families are invited to join Ms. Prindle, principal, and Ms. Williams, assistant principal, at the Wakefield Forest playground on Wednesday, August 11th at 4:00 PM.
New to Wakefield Forest? Take a Family Tour
If your family was new to WFES in the 2020-21 school year or you are new to Wakefield Forest this fall, take a family tour of the school at one of the following times: Thursday, July 29th, 9:30 AM; Monday, August 9th, 9:00 AM, or Wednesday, August 11th, 3:00 PM.
School Supplies For School Year 2021-22
Take a look at our school supply lists by grade level. (Online ordering of school supply packs is no longer available but, for those who ordered earlier, supply packs will be distributed in school.)
New School-Based Vaccination Clinics; Register Today
Free vaccination clinics for adolescents 12 years of age and older will be held from 2 – 7 p.m. on Friday, August 4 at Herndon Elementary; Thursday, August 5 at Justice High; and Friday, August 6 at Liberty Middle.
Required School Immunization Appointments Available
Documentation of immunization is required for students entering kindergarten, 7th grade, 12th grade, and for new students transferring into FCPS. Now is the time to schedule a free appointment through the Fairfax County Health Department for your child's immunizations.
No-Cost Summer Meals for Students
No cost summer meals for students available June 28 to August 5 at ten school sites and on 40 bus routes.
Virtual Mental Wellness Consultation
Any Fairfax County parent may schedule a 45-minute Virtual Mental Wellness Consultation this summer from June 28 through August 6. The consultation can take place by phone or video conferencing with a school psychologist or school social worker to get the support needed to help your child. There is no cost for this service.
Come Back for 5 Days
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is reaching out to parents, encouraging them to send their children back to in-person learning this fall. Take a look at images on banners, yard signs, and social media that highlight exceptional programs available to students as FCPS returns strong.
There is now a new Emergency Broadband Benefit available to eligible households through the Federal Communications Commission. This is a temporary benefit that will help to lower the cost of internet broadband service during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. Find out more.
Parent Technology Help Desk
The Parent Technology Help Desk will continue to support parents and students through the summer months. The number is 1-833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS). It will be answered by staff from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
