10 Reasons Wakefield Forest Stands Out

What Makes Wakefield Forest Elementary School Special

It's a Great Day to be a part of the Wolf Pack!

10 Reasons Wakefield Forest Stands Out

At Wakefield Forest, our purpose is to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive community where everyone is valued while engaging in meaningful academic and social-emotional learning.

Wakefield Forest Wolves Are High Achievers

Wakefield Forest students consistently demonstrate high levels of achievement as measured on the Virginia state Standards of Learning (SOLs). Overall scores in math and reading are routinely well above the state and division levels, with 90% or more of our students who take the exams obtaining passing scores and roughly one in four students achieving “Pass Advanced” standing.

WFES Staff Know that Music Inspires

Music is a huge part of our academic programming at WFES. Our band, strings, chorus and music teams work together to inspire our students. Students in all grade levels participate in either an Informance (in class demonstration K and 1st) or Performance (grades 2-6). Our music team also puts on a musical every other year with 5th and 6th grade students. Past performers have dazzled in Willy Wonka, Lion King and Annie.

WFES Embraces Student Creativity

Wakefield Forest offers Innovation Hour for grades K - 4. During Innovation Hour students engage in non-curriculum based activities, such as coding, building with recyclables, creating puppet shows, etc.

Wakefield Forest offers electives classes for 5th and 6th grade students Friday afternoons from 2:20 - 3:20 PM. Elective class offers vary by year, this year a few offerings are: Ultimate Frisbee, Musical Theater, Anime Club, Kids on Bikes, Video Game Design and Creative Writing.

WFES Grows Student Leaders

We build student leadership through our Patrols, Student Council, Military Ambassadors, Get-2-Green Leads, and News Crew. Students have the opportunity to shine and develop their skills under the guidance of our amazing teacher leaders.

WFES Values Family Engagement
