English Language Arts Strategies

Outcome

  • By June 2024, the percentage of grade 1-3 students demonstrating proficiency as measured by the reading iReady will increase by 20 percentage points. (61% to 81%) 
  • By June 2024, the percentage of students with disabilities demonstrating proficiency as measured by the reading iReady will increase by 20 percentage points. (32% to 52%) 
  • By June 2024, the percentage of English Language Learners demonstrating proficiency as measured by the reading iReady will increase by 20 percentage points. (24% to 44%)

Strategies

  • Expand use of skills-based grouping to ensure students demonstrate mastery of foundational skills. (HLP 2, 5)
  • Improve daily, systematic, explicit instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, and morphology in the core language arts block. (HLP 2)
  • Increase use of data (e.g., iReady, CORE, PASS, PRF, WIDA) to plan instruction and monitor progress for students demonstrating risk. (HLP 2-5)

Mathematics Strategies

Outcome

  • By June 2023, the English Language Learners subgroup Math SOL pass rate will increase from 43% to 50%. 
  • By June 2023, the Students with Disabilities subgroup Math SOL pass rate will increase from 68% to 75%. 

Strategies

  • Tier 2 and Tier 3 math intervention will be provided to students who require additional support.

  • Improve teachers’ implementation of Framework for Engaging and student-centered Mathematics Instruction.

  • Increase teacher implementation of explicit instruction and other components of effective mathematics intervention.

Wellness Strategies

Outcome

  • By June 2024, students in grades 3-6 will increase the percent favorable on the SEL Screener from 49% to 55% or higher in the area of Self Monitoring.

Strategies

  • Improve implementation fidelity of Tier 1 explicit skills instruction during morning meeting and application opportunities related to SEL and mental health protective factors.                                              

  • Establish clear guidelines for responding to student behavior using the office-managed/staff-managed tool.

  • Establish MTSS schoolwide and site intervention teams that review behavior/wellness data at least monthly to evaluate implementation of tier 1 SEL/wellness initiative.
