Attendance Line: 703-503-2323
Attendance Email: email@example.com
If your child is going to be absent or late for any reason, please call the school attendance line at 703-503-2323 or email the school before 8:30 a.m. The attendance line is available 24-7. If a child is not present, and the school has not received a call or email from the parent or guardian, a “robocall” and email follow-up will be sent from the school. The absence or tardy will be considered unexcused unless the parent or guardian responds with a valid reason excusing the child. Please see the guidelines below.
Excused Absence and Tardy - Illness of the student, death in the family, doctor or dentist appointment, late arriving WFES bus, and observance of a religious holiday.
Unexcused Absence and Tardy - Family trip, childcare situation, oversleeping, non-school related activity, traffic, or missed bus.
Family Trips - We encourage family trips during scheduled school vacations. We discourage such trips during the school year because these extended absences interrupt sequential learning in many subject areas. Please note that we do not provide schoolwork in advance for students who will be away from school.
Release of Students During the Day - Parents/guardians must come into the school office to pick up and sign out their child. Please give lead time as it takes students time to gather materials and be escorted to the office. We will not allow a student to walk home alone during the school day, nor will we release your child to anyone who is not listed on the emergency care card without a written request.
Recurring Appointments - Recurring appointments should not be scheduled during the school day as this impacts student learning. Additional information about attendance can be found in the Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) handbook.
